The Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Bernard M. Doro, has extended a bold invitation to development partners across the globe: Nigeria is open for business, brimming with potential, and ready to grow.
Dr. Doro made this declaration during a high-level meeting with Norway’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Andreas Krsvik, who led a delegation to the ministry’s office.
Speaking with conviction, the Minister painted a picture of opportunity, emphasizing that incoming investment would directly fuel employment for Nigeria’s vibrant youth population — empowering them to harness their talents and meaningfully contribute to the nation’s economy.
“We need a strong and resilient partnership to make the Nigerian market large and strong,” Dr. Doro affirmed. He stressed that the ministry remains laser-focused on ensuring that the gains from ongoing macroeconomic reforms translate into real, tangible improvements in the everyday lives of Nigerians particularly those grappling with humanitarian crises.
The Minister also expressed Nigeria’s readiness to deepen ties with Norway within the framework of international law, pledging alignment with the Kampala Declaration — a landmark commitment addressing the full food value chain, spanning nutrition, economic development, and environmental sustainability.
On his part, Mr. Krsvik revealed that the Norwegian delegation’s visit was driven by a genuine desire to forge a meaningful partnership with the Nigerian Government. He noted that Nigeria commands respect across the continent as a regional powerhouse, and that collaboration between both nations holds tremendous promise spanning economic development, security, and human rights.
Closing the gathering on a warm note, the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Olubunmi Olusanya, welcomed the delegation on behalf of the ministry’s management, describing their visit as a timely opportunity to strengthen humanitarian cooperation. He expressed optimism for continued and deepened Norwegian support going forward.
