At least 12 people have been killed and 309 others wounded after Yemen’s Houthi militants allegedly launched a missile attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday, October 10, 2026.
The Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation confirmed that hundreds of people sustained injuries, with some in critical condition. The injured victims were receiving medical treatment in hospitals.
Those reported killed include four Saudi nationals, two Bangladeshis and one citizen each from the United States, Jordan, Palestine, Syria, Sudan and Egypt.
Airport operations were suspended following the attack as authorities began assessing the extent of the damage. Foreign embassies also warned their citizens to avoid the airport amid heightened security concerns.
On Sunday, October 11, the Saudi-led coalition blamed the Iran-backed Houthi group for the strike and vowed a decisive response.
Coalition spokesman, Major General Turki al-Malki, described the incident as a “cowardly terrorist attack” targeting a civilian facility and labelled it a “full-fledged war crime.”
However, the head of the Houthi media office claimed in a post on X that the group had “shut down” the airport.
The attack, reportedly the third targeting the airport within the week, marks a significant escalation in hostilities between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia.
Authorities have continued damage assessments as concerns grow over the security implications of the strike and the potential for further retaliation.
